INFORMATION and MEMBERSHIP FORM

 To protect the water rights of Verde Valley property owners VERDE VALLEY WATER USERS, INC.  was organized in 1984 in response to the surface water rights lawsuit filed by the Salt River Project (SRP).  This lawsuit involves over 50,000 parties (claimants).  Although this lawsuit involves stream water, it is now claimed that wells near streams pump underground stream water.  Most Verde Valley well owners are now included in the adjudication of water rights.

Membership in VERDE VALLEY WATER USERS, INC. will help you deal with this real threat to your use of water on your property by:

 Providing lawsuit update information;

Helping you determine if required claim forms are properly filed;

Providing information to help you prove your water rights;

Providing dues money to enable VERDE VALLEY WATER USERS, INC.   to pay for attorneys and hydrologists to appear in court and file briefs on issues involving Verde Valley water uses.

 SRP, cities, Indian tribes, and other large water users want to obtain the right to as much water as possible.  Some of those claimants object to the water uses of many Verde Valley water users.  This water rights litigation is beginning to focus on the Verde River watershed.

 Years of membership dues paid by hundreds of VERDE VALLEY WATER USERS, INC. members have enabled this organization to participate in court battles that directly affect the water rights of Verde Valley citizens.  In 2003 over $50,000 was spent on our litigation expenses.  Over $21,000 has been spent in 2004.

 If you irrigate with stream water or use water from your well, your future water use is in jeopardy.  VERDE VALLEY WATER USERS, INC. is the only organization working to protect your water rights.  Please join your neighbors in protecting Verde Valley water rights by becoming a VVWU member and contributing dues to support the necessary litigation expenses.
